Cut It Off: The Art of Short Cuts

This hands-on cutting class is designed to build confidence behind the chair when working with short hair. We’ll break down the foundations of creating modern, wearable short shapes.

From consultation and head shape analysis to sectioning, weight placement, texture, and finishing. Stylists will learn how to approach short cuts with intention, understanding where to build structure, where to remove weight, and how to customize the shape to complement each guest’s features, hair texture, density, and lifestyle. We’ll explore techniques for creating movement and softness without losing the strength of the overall silhouette.

The class will also cover scissor-over-comb work, clipper detailing, razor cutting, texturizing, and refining the perimeter. We’ll discuss how to avoid common challenges such as bulky corners, harsh lines, unwanted holes, and over-texturizing.
